About this tutorial
What it is, what it is not
Intuitive as we hope the editor is, this tutorial is designed to explain the basic functions, keystrokes and options to help you get to real-world screenwriting in short order.
What we Assume
As this tutorial is not meant to be a primer on screenwriting itself, we will assume that you, the screenwriter, have at least a basic understanding of script formatting and composition, including...
- Script Elements - all the types of paragraphs that compose a screenplay
- Script Layout - the margins and industry-standard pagination rules for feature and TV scripts
- Mores & Continueds - for dialogue, action and scenes that are split across pages
- ...And other basics of how scripts are laid out and formatted
What We'll Explain
- Tab & Enter key functionality
- How we save your scripts in the Cloud
- Smart Type typeahead popups for Character names, Scene headings & Transitions
- Creating multiple drafts
- Working drafts & What the Public sees
An important concept here is the idea of a public copy versus a working copy - you specify what version should be read by others as you continue to write and rewrite your working draft, which is your private copy (until you decide it is ready to be read by others).

Series / World
For a TV series, or a film and its sequels: keep the characters and locations that recur here, and every script you add to the folder can bring them in.
